Cecilia Canziani

Curator

Cecilia Canziani (Rome, 1976) is an art historian and independent curator. Her work focuses on contemporary artistic practice, writing and teaching contemporary visual culture, and collaboration as a curatorial methodology. She is co-founder of the contemporary art research centre IUNO and the children’s artist book publishing project Les Cerises. She teaches Phenomenology of Contemporary Arts at the Academy of Fine Arts in L’Aquila.

Recent exhibition projects include the first anthological exhibition in an Italian institution by Linda Fregni Nagler for GAM in Turin; the Festival of Foreign Academies and Cultural Institutes at the Palazzo delle Esposizioni in Rome; two exhibitions dedicated to Elisa Montessori at the Italian Cultural Institutes in Warsaw and Krakow; Io dico io, Galleria Nazionale di Arte Moderna in Rome, and Anastasia Potemkina at MAXXI L’Aquila.

She has written about the work of Bettina Buck, Adelaide Cioni, Marta Roberti, Alessandra Spranzi, Marie Lund, Peggy Franck, Rossella Biscotti, Marinella Senatore, Luca Bertolo, Deimantas Narkevicius, Sara Basta and many others.

She has followed Chiara Camoni’s work since 2010. She edited her first monograph (NERO, 2017), and since 2018, they have been working together on the travelling research project La giusta misura.

Chiara Camoni

Artist

Chiara Camoni (1974, Piacenza) lives and works in a small village in the Apuan Alps.
Her practice includes drawing, plant printing, video and above all sculpture, with a particular focus on ceramics. Her works are often the result of collaborations with informal and spontaneous groups, workshops or more institutional seminars.

For several years, ‘Il Centro di Sperimentazione’ has supported the artist in the development of projects characterised by shared authorship, further expanding the formats and languages she uses.

Giulia Gaibisso

Assistant curator

Giulia Gaibisso is an independent curator with a strong focus on research and on forging connections between contemporary voices and stories from our past. Giulia Gaibisso is an art historian and independent curator.
She curates projects of a performative, exhibition, and editorial nature. Since 2021, she has been part of the team at IUNO. She has curated exhibitions, workshops dedicated to writing, and performances.

In 2021 she curated Circo Tornio by Chiara Camoni and the Centro di Sperimentazione. She has recently worked with Cecilia Canziani as assistant curator on the exhibitions Anger Pleasure Fear, a retrospective of Linda Fregni Nagler at GAM, Turin, also coordinating the catalogue. She collaborates with Treccani, NERO Editions and ARTnews.

Elisa del Prete

Project manager

Elisa Del Prete is a producer, curator, and writer in contemporary art. Her practice focuses on site-specific and public space projects, developed through directing the residency program Nosadella.due, which she founded and has since evolved into NOS Visual Arts Production in collaboration with Silvia Litardi.

She has curated projects carried out within the framework of the Italian Council (DGCC-MiC) and Creative Europe, as well as exhibitions in museums and international independent institutions. Since 2023 she collaborates with Lungomare on FLUX. She writes for Doppiozero.

Lucia Aspesi e Fiammetta Griccioli

Dialoghi concept and development

Lucia Aspesi is a curator at Pirelli HangarBicocca, where she has curated exhibitions and publications dedicated to artists including Rirkrit Tiravanija, Nan Goldin, Thao Nguyen Phan, Tarek Atoui, and Sheela Gowda. Among her recent projects is the exhibition on Senga Nengudi and Maren Hassinger at IVAM in Valencia. She has curated exhibitions of Alia Farid and Tabita Rezaire at WAMx in Finland, as well as the first major retrospective of Marinella Pirelli at Museo del Novecento in Milan. She teaches curatorial studies at NABA.

Fiammetta Griccioli is a curator at Pirelli HangarBicocca. She curated the solo exhibition of Benni Bosetto and has curated exhibitions and monographs on artists such as Yuko Mohri, Jean Tinguely, Anicka Yi, and Dineo Seshee Bopape. She is currently Visiting Co-Curator at Palazzo Chigi Zondadari in Siena, where she has curated exhibitions by Natsuko Uchino and Bianca Bondi. Previously, she curated the main section of STAGE (Bregenz, 2023) and worked at WIELS in Brussels.

Lungomare

Public program; visual identity, exhibition graphics and editorial design; accessibility

Lungomare is a platform for cultural production and design. Thanks to a team that combines expertise in design, art and cultural production, Lungomare’s work ranges from visual communication projects to exhibition design, from urban space planning to print and digital publishing, and from curatorial and social projects to participatory processes. The common thread remains their methodological approach, geared towards exploring the potential that creative, situated and transdisciplinary practices can offer in addressing and contributing to contemporary challenges.

The team working on the Biennale project comprises Chiara Bergese, Angelika Burtscher, Chiara Cesaretti, Daniele Lupo and Irene Sgarro. Together with Cecilia Canziani, Angelika Burtscher and Daniele Lupo also founded the publishing project Les Cerises, which published Chiara Camoni’s first children’s book.

Livia Baldini, Luca Parise e Rafael Chvaicer

Design

Since 2015, Livia Baldini, Luca Parise, and Rafael Chvaicer have worked together on projects between architecture and art. This year, they join forces for the exhibition project for the Italian Pavilion at the 61st International Art Exhibition – La Biennale di Venezia.

Livia Baldini is an architect trained in São Paulo, with studies in Leicester and a master’s in Venice. After collaborating with studios across Brazil and Europe, she founded her own practice in 2016 and contributes to national pavilions at the Biennale di Venezia since 2021.

Luca Parise is a multidisciplinary artist based in Italy, working across sculpture and installation. He collaborates with Chiara Camoni and is part of the Centro di Sperimentazione and the AVENTURA group. His work has been shown in São Paulo, Curitiba, Rome, and Barcelona.

Rafael Chvaicer is a Brazilian architect who has worked with studios such as Metro, AR, and MK27. Since 2012, he has developed his own practice (Neute Chvaicer, Despacho, Aventura), with a strong focus on experimentation and a close dialogue with art.

Helena Caixeta

Lighting

Helena Caixeta is a Brazilian architect and lighting designer based in Paris, holding a Master’s in Architectural Lighting Design from the KTH Royal Institute of Technology in Sweden. Before establishing her independent practice in 2024, she gained professional experience at architecture and lighting design studios in São Paulo and Paris, notably collaborating with Fernanda Carvalho Lighting Design and 818 Lumière on architectural and exhibition lighting projects.

Since 2024, Helena has developed a multidisciplinary practice bridging architectural and theatrical lighting. Her work explores how light shapes space, guided by the dialogue between architecture and stage design. She collaborates on projects across architecture, theatre, exhibitions, and installations, focusing on the interplay between light, space, and emotion.

Il Centro di Sperimentazione

Production and installation

On October 17, 2019, at 4 am in Faenza, the Centro di Sperimentazione was born. A fluid group organizes and disorganizes itself around the desire to experiment and build through art, in life — where experimentation is not innovation, nor construction an addition.

It moves across places, thoughts, nationalities, and generations, transforming through its actions. Experimentation unfolds in unknown fields: it is unpredictable and unrepeatable. The group remains intentionally undefined: to experiment with what we do not know, we cannot fix ourselves to what we know.

For the Italian Pavilion at the Biennale Arte 2026, the group includes Paola Aringes, Chiara Camoni, Patricia Carolina, Giusy Catelani, Elisa Conti, Rafael Chvaicer, Estefania Belen Nativo, Luna De Oliveira, Anita Galeotti, Melissa Giannini, Mariana Kinker, Luca Parise, Francesco Salvi, Mila Malavasi, Camilla Maria Santini and Elisa Zaninoni, along with a network of relationships to whom we are grateful.

NERO Editions

Publication

NERO is an international publishing house founded in 2004. It is characterised by a transdisciplinary approach that brings together the visual arts, philosophy and contemporary culture, with a particular focus on emerging forms of expression and the transformations brought about by digital media.
